Cardiff's first and only large scale outdoor mela has been organised by a voluntary committee in 2007, 2008 and 2009. The mela was founded by Imran Iqbal who has chaired the mela committee since inception. He has also carried out part time project officer duties voluntarily. Imran has also been involved with many multicultural and BME community events in Wales over the last ten years. As of 2010, we are now a not-for-profit organisation, incorporated as a Company Limited by Guarantee (without share capital). The event itself has now been running successfully and has grown steadily into Wales' largest single day multicultural event attracting 30,000+ visitors in 2010. Also, as of 2009, this free event is part funded by Cardiff City Council and the Arts Council in Wales. We are also happy to have O2 on board as a principal sponsor.
