Below are some of the main acts that performed at the 2011 mela:

STEREO NATION

Tarsame Singh aka Taz, a British born Asian raised in Coventry UK established himself as a recording artist in 1989. With the release of his debut album 'Hit The Deck' he stormed the UK Asian pop charts for thirty-six weeks at no.1. The album went on to become one of the biggest selling Asian fusion releases to date. Described as the prince of pop fusion, a lyricist, composer and producer, he became the embodiment of the futuristic dimension of cross-cultural music. He heralded a new era in which cross over music became the pursuit of many young British Asian artists. His music is best described as a hybrid of Punjabi folk, Hindi and English fused with Western pop sensibility, infectious melodies and dynamic dance grooves. Some of Taz's influences are George Michael, Prince, Jam & Lewis, Baby face, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, R D Burman, Gurdass Maan, Kuldip Manak and Zapp!!! to say the least.

MUMZY

In an era of generic urban music, Mumzy Stranger is conquering the music scene with a style that is entirely his own. Raised in East London, Mumzy’s music blends the R&B & Hip Hop beats of his childhood with the New Jack Swing riffs and reggae-inspired rhythms of his teenage years. Whether he’s rapping or singing, producing or song writing, Mumzy Stranger’s wide-ranging musical abilities set him apart from the masses. Now signed to Tiffin Beats Records, Award winning urban sensation unleashes his distinct blend of bashment-flavoured R&B & Pop on the world through his remarkable songs including his hit single ‘Mama Used To Say’ featuring the legendary Grammy award winning artist Junior.

PBN

PBN is one of UK’s most successful Asian music producers. Hailing from Wolverhampton, PBN’s music has vastly impacted the sound of UK Bhangra. Smash hit tracks such as ‘Aashiq’, ‘Dancefloor’, ‘Sohni Lagdi’ ‘Jaan Panjabi’, ‘Nain Preeto De’, ‘Nachdi’ and ‘Aaj Me Peeni’, which are by far some of the biggest party anthems to have emerged from the scene, have also positioned PBN as one of the most recognised Brit-Asian producers. His formula of catchy hooks and heavy beats, blended with UK flavours has earned him the title of ‘the Hit Maker’ topping charts across the nation. His production skills and talent have gained him immense recognition and support from the industry, leading to collaborations with the likes of Malkit Singh, K.S Bhamra and H-Dhami.

JERNADE MIAH

Singer/songwriter/dancer Jernade becomes Doh Point Nau’s newest signing, joining the likes of Jay Sean, Rishi Rich, Juggy D and Veronica, who have all been products of the Independent Label over the last decade. The label itself owned by founders Billy Grant and Rob Stuart, who in addition are credited with breaking Craig David and the most successful UK urban girl band Misteeq (whilst with Telstar Records). Hailing from East London, the 19 year old has been developing his craft over the past year as well as fronting up his own dance crew. His debut release ‘Switch Me On’ is his first offering on DohPointNau and is testament to their objective of signing and developing the hottest home-grown British Asian talent for global success.

JUZ D

After breaking through with prevalent hits such as ‘Punjabiz In Da Club’, ‘Yaar’, ‘Eshara’ and ‘Piyar’, singer/song writer Juz D returns after over two years with his brand new single titled ‘Mast Jawani’ out now on iTunes via Breakthru Records. Juz D has a big fan base around the globe.he has performed on numerous Gigs, Asian festivals and private functions in the UK, Canada, Sweden, Holland, Malaysia, Dubai and Pakistan.

JUNAI KADEN

Pakistani singer, songwriter and multi instrumentalist Junai Kaden, is a fresh face set to take the scene by storm this year. Junai is the young prodigy of Tiffin Beat’s award winning Mumzy Stranger, who has produced and features on the debut track ‘Aaja Mere Naal’.‘Aaja Mere Naal’ is an up-tempo Punjabi dance-floor smash, laced with a hard hitting techno/urban beat, giving it a unique and contemporary feel. Born and raised in Essex, Junai, aged 20, first started singing at the age of 14 and learnt to play instruments like the piano and dhol. Having made trips back home to Pakistan, he picked up traditional styles of singing and soon after learnt to play more traditional instruments, such as the harmonium.

MO SABRI

It's easy to see why Mo Sabri, an American rapper, is referred to as the "overnight classic". In less than a year, Mo has already had a sold out national college tour in America and he has received over 500,000 YouTube plays and downloads for his first mixtape. His music videos feature cameos from celebrities including platinum rapper B.o.B. and comedian Aziz Ansari. His unique style of hip hop has allowed him to gain a diverse fan base that is constantly growing. Mo is set to release his highly anticipated debut album before his performance at the Cardiff Mela; we are excited to host his first-ever concert in the UK.

RSVP

With many years experience in music entertainment, RSVP has played with some of the top names at festivals and venues across the country. As part of their summer festivals tour, wowing the crowds at Glastonbury, Bath and others, spreading their unique vibe far and wide, the West County’s own Superstars are stopping off in Cardiff with that big Bhangra beat and groovy moves. RSVP’s unique high octane style blends Bhangra with Western reggae, funk, hip-hop and rock. Famous for the brilliant party atmosphere they create, you can’t fail to Respond to their infectious, engaging performance and be on your feet, having fun and dancing your socks off.
